Rafael Reina
Rafael Reina was born in Barcelona and it was at the age of 12 when he accidentally discovered his passion for photography on a vacation with his family. From that moment on, he interspersed his studies with professional photography, reaching a degree in Sociology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Thanks to the Postgraduate Diploma in Photojournalism and the Master in Applied Social Research Techniques, he specialized in photojournalism and visual sociology. He was awarded a study grant by the “Fundación Caixa de Sabadell” for the completion of the first study in “visual sociology” on missing persons in the Spanish state, which would be published in La Vanguardia Magazine on Oct 29/2006.
Awarded with the 1st prize in the XV City of Barañaín Photography Contest, in the “Barañaín Theme” section, his career includes publications in the media such as El País, El Periódico, La Vanguardia and El Mundo.
He worked as an associate professor in photojournalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and coordinator of the Postgraduate Diploma in photojournalism for five years.
